The Living Hope

The Living Hope CIO, based in Herefordshire, is a Christian organisation dedicated to supporting individuals facing homelessness, addiction, and socio-economic challenges. We partner with other organisations to provide comprehensive assistance.

Providing accommodation and  assistance

The Living Hope, based in Herefordshire, is a Christian charity, assisting individuals facing disadvantage, poverty, homelessness and addiction, to move swiftly from rough sleeping, through emergency accommodation, to the specialist supported accommodation they need, for their journey towards health and independence. After the usual two-year stay, some residents are not equipped to move from this professional support to independent living. They are stuck – preventing others, who are sleeping rough, receiving the security and support they desperately need.

So, The Living Hope provides ‘move on’ accommodation to assist individuals break the cycle of dependence, to review their strengths, needs and aspirations, to develop positive approaches for sustainable, independent and fulfilling lives. The residents and The Living Hope volunteer team will discuss, tailor and periodically review progress on individual support programmes, suitably embracing: life skills; housing issues; money management; focused activity – education/training, volunteering and work placement; wellbeing – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health; also building/rebuilding family and social networks. Individual mentoring and advocacy will be provided by trained and skilled volunteers, working with partner organisations and local specialist agencies, to provide comprehensive support.

The Living Hope also provides other activities in line with its charitable aims. For example, during the winter, 2023-24, we opened The Living Hope Hub, where our committed team of volunteers tirelessly provided generously donated meals to homeless people, every evening for four months. The support of donors and volunteers enabled us to serve lonely, vulnerable, homeless and marginalized people during the early evenings, when everything closes; darkness falls; the temperature drops; morale plummets, loneliness sets in and problems increase. Generous donors and the dedicated team are enabling us to develop the next phase of The Living Hope Hub.

New House Coming! Thank you Green Pastures

We are thrilled to share that we will soon be expanding our ministry with a wonderful new property designed to support individuals who have experienced homelessness in Hereford. This spacious four-bedroom house will provide a welcoming home for four residents and offers a supportive environment.

The property features generous indoor space and a large rear garden, perfect for various outdoor activities and creative projects like woodworking. While there is still some work to be done, we are making great progress and are almost ready to welcome our new residents!
