The Living Hope Hub

Food and Dining

The Living Hope Hub (TLHH) emerged in winter 2023 after a crucial observation during discussions at The Hereford Homelessness Forum, where a gap in food provision for those accessing the Winter Night Shelter was identified.

While daytime support services were available, there was a significant absence between the closing hours of local cafes supporting rough sleepers—typically around 2 pm -4 pm—and the opening of the Winter Night Shelter at 8 pm.

This is when everything closes; darkness falls; the temperature drops; morale plummets, loneliness sets in and problems increase.

With risk assessments and all legislation in place, TLHH operated professionally, fostering strong relationships with various agencies and council members.

Although we initially focused on providing food, our care quickly expanded. Volunteers offered not only meals but also a listening ear, support during crises, guidance, clothing, job opportunities, and assistance in securing accommodation and rehab services. This comprehensive care created a sense of family among our rough sleeper guests and volunteers, offering a feeling of home every evening.

Food was generously provided weekly by local businesses and churches, ensuring that our guests received nutritious meals throughout the coldest months.

From December 11th, 2023, to March 24th, 2024, when our ‘pop up’ operations closed, we served a total of 1,176 meals *

Looking forward into winter 2024, we may continue providing this essential support to those in need.

Would you be interested in supplying cooked meals in bulk for approximately 20-25 people once a week? Your contribution could make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.
If so please email: vikki.thomas@thelivinghope.org.uk

(*From February 14th, we had to stop opening on Wednesdays due to venue issues)
